  • 　　 Approved by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, the China-South Asia Exposition is cosponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the People’s Government of Yunnan Province while commercial authorities of South Asian countries are also invited for co-sponsorship. The China-South Asia Exposition grew out of the South Asian Countries Trade Fair, which was held for 5 consecutive years. Thanks to the nurture and development over the past several years, with an increasingly expanding scale, the South Asian Countries Trade Fair played a significant role in promoting the economic and commercial exchanges between China and south Asian countries. To cater to the changing circumstances and further strengthen mutual beneficial cooperation between China and south Asian countries, upon approval from the State Council of the People’s Republic of China in October 2012, the South Asian Countries Trade Fair was upgraded to the China-South Asia Exposition, which will be held in Kunming, China once a year as of 2013.
    The 1st China-South Asia Exposition will be held from June 6 to 10, 2013, the same period when the 21st China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair is due to be held. The principle and theme of the 1st China-South Asia Exposition is “Promoting all-round cooperation between China and south Asia and development” and “Opening up mutually, pragmatic cooperation, mutual benefits & win-win situation, and harmonious development” respectively. The China-South Asia Exposition is striving to develop itself into a high-level comprehensive exhibition combining commodity trade, service trade, investment & cooperation, tourist cooperation and cultural exchanges, and to become an important bridge for mutual beneficial cooperation between China and south Asian countries, and an important platform for China and south Asian countries to expand economic and commercial exchanges with other countries and regions.　　
    Based upon the idea of “enriching contents, highlighting features, improving effectiveness, building brands and serving all parties”, the 1st China-South Asia Exposition will organize the following events: South Asia Commodity Exhibition, Investment Promotion for South Asian Countries, South Asia Commodity Procurement, China-South Asia Business Forum, China-South Asia Think Tank Forum, China-South Asia Friendship Organizations Forum, China-SAARC Senior Economic and Commercial Officials’ Meeting, China • Southeast Asia • South Asia Television Arts Week, ASEAN Overseas Chinese Investors and Asia-Pacific Chinese Entrepreneurs Forum, GMS Economic Corridor Week, Investment Promotion for Overseas Chinese Investors, and China-ASEAN Industry Cooperation Kunming Conference　　
  • About the Lawyers & Legal Services Team of China – South Asia Expo
  • 　　 In order to implement the spirit of the Provincial TV and Telephone Meeting on the Judicial Administrative Work and give full play to the positive role of the lawyers’ work in serving economic and social development, promoting the process of governing the province according to law, and building Yunnan into a law-based province, the Yunnan Lawyers Association decided to establish the Lawyers & Legal Services Team of China – South Asia Expo.
    I. Purpose
    The purpose of the establishment is to implement the spirit of the Party’s 18th National Congress: centering around the province’s goal of “three major developments” and “an economically powerful and culturally powerful province and a bridgehead”, give full play to the functional role of the lawyers’ work and further deepen the lawyers’ special legal service work; by expanding the lawyers’ legal service fields, deepening the service content, and make innovations in service means, change scattered, spontaneous, and disordered lawyers’ legal services into concentrated, consciously, orderly, organized and planned unified actions, form a coordinated lawyers’ legal service working mechanism and drive the majority of lawyers to actively participate in the legal construction and the forefront of economic and social construction and make contributions, thus further serving the social and economic development, promoting the process of governing the province according to law and building Yunnan into a law-based province.
    II. Principle
    (a) Organize in an orderly manner: The work of establishing the said team shall be carried out under the unified leadership of the Party Committee of the Yunnan Provincial Justice Department. The Yunnan Lawyers Association shall be in charge of formulating the overall work plan and the concrete work plan for the team and implementing them. (b) Highlight the focus: Highlight the work of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government and form distinctive characteristics in serving important areas, serving key parts, and serving the vulnerable. (c) Gather advantageous resources: Integrate resources, break the regional and law firm boundaries, and gather the best lawyers together to build a strong professional legal service team.
    Services offered during the exposition
    　　The Lawyers & Legal Services Team of China – South Asia Expo will provide legal consultation and legal service for the Expo-related legal issues; put forward legal advice or suggestions to the organizers on the Expo’s work on the protection of intellectual property rights; assist the organizers verify the qualifications of the participating units; and provide other legal services related to the Expo.
